Our Plan for a New Campus

The Museum Building will serve as the main entry to the campus. Guests will be immersed in culture through state-of-the-art exhibit spaces and galleries. Three additional buildings will host mission-centric programming where guests can deepen their experience. Students, teachers, artisans, entrepreneurs, tourists, researchers, cultural bearers and so many more will benefit.

There is a place for everyone on the new Tomaquag Museum Campus.

Experience the versatility of the new Tomaquag Museum Campus. Four buildings, 20,000 square feet of indoor space to educate, empower and engage.

Where will you enjoy and explore this new Indigenous Museum Campus?

NEARBY. In Kingston, Rhode Island on University of Rhode Island (URI) land. Easily accessible to Rt. 138, Rt. 1, and Interstate 95.

Architects and engineers have designed the new campus to welcome at least 10 times more annual visitors. And those curious crowds will discover lots of new programs and exhibits.

Tomaquag has always been a place to study. We regularly host scholars from top universities. Right now, though, those inquiring minds work in cramped, makeshift spaces. That will change on the new campus. Our new research facilities will be state of the art.

Silvermoon Larose hosts a small group at the museum.

We’ve done our best with limited space and resources to care for the archives and belongings entrusted to Tomaquag since 1958.

But honestly? Times have changed. Minds have opened. Tomaquag Museum owes it to everyone to expand its programming so all can benefit.

The new museum campus will allow many to find a place to learn and engage. Our collections, cultural belongings and archives will find a safe, new home here for future generations to experience.

Tomaquag can do so much more on this new campus… and we will, with your help.
